SNOR stands for Sustainable, Natural, Organic, and Regional
What do each of these terms mean?
SUSTAINABLE
Actions and products that meet current needs without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Sustainability is a broad term and often refers to the desire to provide the best outcomes for the human and natural environments both now and into the indefinite future.
NATURAL
A product that is made from materials and ingredients found in nature, with little or no human intervention. For example, wood is a natural material while plastic is not.
ORGANIC
Products produced under the authority of the Organic Foods Production Act. The principal guidelines for organic production are to use materials and practices that enhance the ecological balance of natural systems and that integrate the parts of the farming system into an ecological whole.
REGIONAL
FSA defines regional as it relates to 1) the reduction of transportation costs and impact on the environment, and 2) the economic benefit of a company’s reinvestment in their region. The products produced and distributed by any company doing their primary business within that region are considered ‘regional’. For FSA Dakota Group, our Regional area is judged to be North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota produced products.
