Vendor Certification
Food Services of America vendors are evaluated and must pass our Vendor Certification process before they can be considered to pack Food Services of America branded items. The certification process focuses on Food Safety Initiatives the vendor has in place and evaluates the following items:
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Third Party Audits
  • Product Recall Plans

  • History of Food Safety Issues
  • Plant Inspection Records
  • Pest Control Records
Food Services of America's Quality Assurance team has the ability to restrict a vendor from packaging our company branded items if they fail to meet product specifications or fail to produce a safe, consistent, wholesome product. Our specialists work with our branded suppliers as a team to improve product quality through compliance to our strict specifications and have the ability to enforce product standards.

Food Services of America Quality Assurance manages our branded suppliers to improve product quality through compliance and enforcement of the product standards and specifications.

Maintaining the Cold Chain
The cold chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Products must stay cold from harvest to consumer or shelf-life will suffer.  As a distributor, Food Services of America pays attention to all the details to ensure optimum temperature of products is maintained throughout the entire distribution process.

Temperatures are monitored on all produce and perishable products in our warehouses.  Shipments that arrive on our docks outside acceptable temperature limits are rejected on the spot.  We also use mobile temperature recording devices on highly perishable loads to ensure the quality and safety of products.

Recall Programs
A Recall Communication System has recently been introduced to our distribution centers that allows us to instantly isolate products and prevent them from reaching our customers.  We have the ability to isolate any product and can call all of our customers that may have received a recalled product within a very short time.

We are very proud of the success of our system and it enables us to remain a Food Safety leader in our industry. Food Services of America requires all branded suppliers to have a recall system in place and practice mock recalls on a regular basis.

Quality Issues
Both product and customer issues are recorded on systems that are accessible to all of our distribution centers.  Issues are researched and resolved quickly to the satisfaction of our customers.

Facility Maintenance
Food Services of America employs third party auditors to monitor our facilities in addition to our regular internal inspections.  All of our facilities are monitored by a private pest control company on a bi-monthly basis, and all inspections and reports are made available to our customers.
