September US chicken exports were 9% less than a year ago despite being the best for any month since March and increases in trade with China (26.6%) and Russia (3.8%). US chicken exports could build in the coming months due to the recent downturn in leg quarter prices and a depreciated US dollar. Last week an unusually large volume of boneless skinless chicken breast product was shipped in the southeast. Boneless skinless chicken breast was also featured at the retail level in the southeast last week as low as $.99 a pound. This may signal that the bottom is near for the chicken breast markets. Typically, the chicken breast markets move higher during the winter. The chicken wing markets remain elevated.
