Method
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan, set aside. In a large bowl, beat shortening, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Beat in bananas. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; add to banana mixture. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Fold in the chocolate pieces and 2/3 cup of the peanuts. Pour batter into prepared pan; sprinkle with remaining peanuts. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 60 to 70 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
