Cherry Good Cake

Cherry Good Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup dairy sour cream
1 (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Method

Put butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed 3 to 4 minutes, or until well blended. Add eggs; mix well. Stir in almond extract.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl; mix well. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, alternately with sour cream. Mix just until ingredients are combined.

Coat a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Spoon batter evenly into prepared pan. Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over batter. Sprinkle with almonds.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done. Let cool in pan before cutting into squares to serve.
