Chocolate Trifle
For the real chocolate lover, this heavenly dessert looks far more complicated than it is--chocolate cake topped with chocolate pudding, whipped topping and toffee bits.

Serves: 64, 3x2-inch servings

Ingredients

5 lb (full box) Krusteaz Devil's Food Cake Mix
48 fl oz (6 cups) water, divided
72 oz (12 cups) prepared chocolate pudding
20 oz (4 cups) toffee bits
24 oz (8 cups) whipped topping

Method

Place 20 fl oz (2½ cups) water in mixer bowl. Add total amount of Krusteaz Devil's Food Cake Mix.


Using a paddle, mix on medium speed 3 minutes. Change to low speed and mix 1 minute while gradually adding balance of water. Scrape bowl and paddle. Continue to mix on low speed 2 minutes. Scale batter into prepared 24 x 16 x 1-inch pan.

For standard oven, bake at 350° F 25-30 minutes; for convection oven, bake at 300° F 20-25 minutes. Let cool. Tear or slice cake into 1-inch pieces.

 

Spoon pudding over cake. Sprinkle toffee bits over pudding and spread with whipped topping. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

 

Garnish with toffee bits or chocolate shavings, if desired.
