Crispy Shrimp Japones

Crispy Shrimp Japones
Delicious fried shrimp served Asian-style with wasabi and a house-blend soy sauce.

Ingredients

1/2 lb Ocean Garden® Shrimp, head-on
1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds, optional

Wasabi Sauce
2 to 3 Tbsp Wasabi powder (Japanese horseradish)
2 Tbsp lime juice
2 Tbsp water
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar

Hot Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp dry mustard
2 Tbsp boiling water
2 Tbsp rice vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic
1 dried chili pepper, optional

Method
Defrost shrimp; rinse, drain well and pat dry. Set aside.

Wasabi Sauce
Mix wasabi powder, lime juice, water, salt and sugar together until smooth.

Hot Soy Sauce
Mix dry mustard and boiling water until smooth. Add rice vinegar and soy sauce.

To Cook Shrimp
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok. Add garlic, chili pepper, and shrimp. Toss shrimp to coat with oil. Place shrimp in a single layer, turning shrimp as they cook (see cooking times below).

Serve fried shrimp with wasabi and soy dipping sauces. Sprinkle soy with sesame seeds, if desired.
