Method
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a bowl, toss the apples together with the raisins, syrup, lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread evenly in a buttered 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
In another bowl, toss the rolled oats with the maple or brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Add the melted butter and stir until evenly moistened. Scatter the crumbs over the apples all the way to the edge. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender, the filling is bubbling and the topping is toasted. Let rest for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve warm with pecan ice cream, if desired.
